Ice, Ice Baby

Sometimes the littlest things make the biggest impact.

I experienced this once at a restaurant and have used this trick ever since in my own home when entertaining.

Vanilla ice cubes.

A perfect way to add an extra hint of flavor to water, soda, cocktails, you name it…what doesn’t a little taste of vanilla make better? All you need is an ice tray and vanilla extract. Fill the tray with water, drop in as much or as little vanilla as you’d like (remember, a drop of vanilla extract can go a long way) and set in the freezer. I promise, your guests will be pleasantly surprised when they go to sip their water the next time they dine at your home!

If you want to be a little more “Martha”…

Ice cubes can also serve as surprising decorative accents when entertaining.

Check out some of the more impressive frozen things I’ve seen.

Practical Tip of the Day:

Save some last minute stress. If you have a table set with water glasses, fill them up with ice cubes anytime before the get together and let them melt. This ensures you won’t need to spend time filling up a water pitcher and/or rushing right before the meal to fill up the H20 glasses. This trick also ensures your water is ice cold once it’s melted.
